GREAT MATCHING PAIR LIMOGES ENAMEL PORTRAIT VASES MAN & WOMAN 100% HAND PAINTED. A matching pair of charming and finely executed Limoges guilloche enamel vases.

Limoges enamel is a bit of a generic term for pieces like this that were produced primarily in the southwestern portion of France from the 12. These vases each feature 100% hand-painted full-length portraits of a man and woman respectively, dressed in 18. They are dressed in a very colorful outfits and there is blue foil coloring to their clothing that is just strikingly beautiful.

The vases are painted with scenes that continue 360-degrees around the sides. In addition, both vases are painted with raised gold floral decoration over ruby red colored enamel on the bases. The enameling appears to have been done over brass, as most of these are.

This pair of vases have been in my personal collection since the year 2001. Both vases are artist signed by the same artist and the signatures appear to be that of M Duteul. The signatures are located just to the right of the bottom of the womans dress and just to the left of the mans ankles. Both portraits are well painted by a very skilled artist. I find no other markings on either vase.

Regardless, they are a matching pair of strikingly beautiful vases with lovely enamel work and wonderful decoration and in great original condition! Dont miss this opportunity to own them. I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.

Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables. They are both in excellent to near mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs to the enamel and no dents, dings or breaks to the metal on either vase. The portrait areas are unmarked.

All I will mention is some very slight wear or signs of use to the gold decoration around the bases and a bit of tarnish to the metal and I made no attempt to do any cleaning or polishing to the metal. Anything else you may think you see is a reflection in the photos to the very shiny surface of the vases.

Really in extremely fine condition for two matching 100+ year old pieces of hand-painted enamel work. Please keep in mind the photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times bigger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. Each vase is about 1.75 (4.4 cm) in diameter at the widest and sits about 4.75 (12.1 cm) off the table at the top rim.

About 7.25 ounces (204 grams) for the pair. On heavier items I will also offer a less expensive option, if available.
